Professional Organizing
Who hires a professional organizer?
Professional organizers serve a wide range of people, including busy professionals, businesses, families, seniors, individuals navigating ADHD or other challenges, and those undergoing life transitions such as moving, downsizing, or welcoming a new baby. Essentially, anyone seeking to overcome clutter and establish greater order in their lives or work can benefit from our services.
What are your qualifications and experience?
To best serve my clients, I’ve completed coursework with NAPO and ICD and actively pursue ongoing education in the field. My background, encompassing both prior professional positions and personal experiences, equips me with a well-rounded perspective and practical skills.
How long will it take to organize my [room/house/office]?
The duration of an organization project varies depending on several key factors: the volume of possessions, the size of the space, your decision-making style, and your desired level of organization. While many of our projects are completed within a 3- to 5-hour timeframe, we will work with you to develop a realistic and tailored plan with a clear timeline based on your specific needs.
Do you offer maintenance sessions after the initial organizing?
Yes, we offer ongoing maintenance sessions to help you sustain the organization we’ve established. We understand that sometimes with the demands of work, school, and family life maintaining order can sometimes be a challenge.
Decluttering
I’m embarrassed about my space—should I clean up before you arrive?
No, please don’t worry about cleaning up before we arrive, and there’s no reason to feel embarrassed. Our process involves working together to sort through your belongings and eliminate what isn’t needed. Our aim is to transform your space into one you love, where you can feel relaxed and comfortable, and look forward to having guests over in your home.
Will you make me throw everything away?
Definitely not. We respect your attachment to your belongings and will never pressure you to discard anything you’re not comfortable letting go of. Our goal is to guide you through a thoughtful process of identifying what truly serves you and what you want to keep in your residence.
What happens to the items I decide to get rid of?
That’s a great question. We’ll discuss the best options for your unwanted items based on what they are and their condition. We strive to find alternatives to landfills, such as selling or donating items.
How do I maintain my space after decluttering?
Preventing future clutter is key to maintaining your organized space. We can discuss practical strategies such as establishing a “one in, one out” rule for new possessions, regularly evaluating what you truly use and need, and being mindful of impulse purchases We can also explore setting up designated donation areas for items you no longer need.
Senior Downsizing
How long does the process typically take?
The timeline to prepare for your move is contingent upon several factors, including the square footage of your home, the quantity of your possessions, and any specific complexities involved. Certain moves can be efficiently completed in a matter of days, whereas more extensive relocations, especially those requiring downsizing, can take several weeks or months to finalize.
What if we only need help with one or two aspects of the move?
That’s perfectly fine. We offer a range of customizable services and are happy to focus on the specific aspects of your move where you need support, such as space planning, downsizing, or packing.
How do we get started?
Getting started is easy. We recommend scheduling a consultation at your convenience. This allows us to understand your needs and timeline thoroughly, explain the various services Organized Matters provides, and take a look at your space.
Can I utilize your services if I’m not a senior?
Yes! We’re here to help anyone who needs support with a move. Life gets busy, and moving can be overwhelming. Whether it’s a local move, out-of-state or an international we can help with whatever you need.
